Sun Country Check-in Procedures and Travel Tips If you have any questions regarding check in or any other Sun Country policies or procedures, please contact Sun Country Airlines Reservations toll free at 1-800-359-6786 or at 651-905-2737 in Minneapolis/St. Paul for more information. Check-in Locations In some airports, Sun Country Airlines shares ticket counter space with other carriers. Use the following table to identify exactly where you should go to check in:
When traveling on Sun Country flights, please remember to check in as early as possible for your flight. Flights are available for in-person check-in two hours prior to departure at all designated Sun Country locations. Sun Country Airlines recommends you be at the airport not less than 60 minutes prior to your scheduled departure. If your flight departs from Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, or Washington, D.C., Sun Country recommends you check in 90 minutes prior to departure. Due to airport construction in Las Vegas, Sun Country recommends you check in two hours prior to departure. Check-in Requirements — OnlinePassengers holding electronic tickets for domestic travel to or from selected cities are welcome to check in online at www.suncountry.com. You may check in for your flight no more than 24 hours prior to, and up to and six hours before your scheduled departure time. Please note: passengers with infants, unaccompanied minors and groups larger than seven are not able to check-in online. You may use online check in even if you have luggage: please see Baggage – Checked details below. Please note: passengers traveling with infants and passengers holding paper tickets may not check in online. IdentificationCustomers over the age of 18 years must show valid federal or state government-issued photo identification, (valid driver's license, valid passport, or a valid military identification card) at the ticket counter and at the security checkpoint. Baggage — Carry-OnYou are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage not to exceed 48 linear inches (length plus width plus height), including the wheels and handle and not to exceed 35 pounds. Plus, you may also carry on one smaller personal item to fit under the seat in front of you (i.e., purse, laptop, infant bag, etc.). Carry-on baggage that exceeds these limits is subject to checked baggage fees (see below). TSE requirements mandate that only alcohol that is provided by Sun Country Airlines and is served by our flight attendants is allowed to be consumed on our flights. Duty-free items purchased in the sterile area are exempt from the TSA regulation but are not allowed to be consumed onboard the aircraft. Should the volume of carry-on baggage exceed the stowage capability of the aircraft, selected baggage will be appropriately tagged and placed in designated cargo compartments. Tagged bags may be retrieved from the baggage carousel at the final destination. Baggage — CheckedFor specific Sun Country policies concerning firearms, medical equipment, pets and animals, lithium batteries and sporting equipment, please click here. Save time with the convenience of paying for your checked baggage online. Checked baggage can be pre-paid for anytime up to 24 hours prior to your flight. Unaccompanied minors and passengers traveling as a part of a group are not able to pre-pay for checked baggage and must pay for checked baggage at the terminal upon check-in. To pre-pay for your checked baggage, please click here. Passengers who purchase Coach Cabin tickets will be assessed a first bag fee of $15 each way and a second bag fee of $25 each way; each bag is not to exceed 62 linear inches (length plus width plus height) and/or 50 pounds. The following passengers are exempt from the first bag fee:
Military Exemption: Active U.S. military personnel traveling on official orders are allowed to check two bags up to 80 linear inches (length plus width plus height) and 70 pounds free of charge. To qualify, military personnel will need to present a valid military ID card and military orders. Baggage over these allowances is subject to excess baggage fees. This exception does not apply to travel companions or DOD civilians conducting official military business. Passengers will have the option of prepaying for their return trip baggage fees at their original check-in if they prefer. Passengers must present their receipt as proof of payment for the return segment. Bag fees are non-refundable. All baggage exceeding 50 pounds, 62 linear inches, or quantities as outlined above are subject to excess baggage fees. Checked baggage exceeding 80 linear inches will be accepted pending space availability. Checked baggage 100 pounds or over will not be accepted. Please note:
$75 will be charged for the third checked bag under 50 pounds and/or 62 linear inches (length plus width plus height) and for each additional bag under 50 pounds and/or 62 linear inches. Bags over 50 pounds and 62 linear inches will also be charged $75. Bags that qualify for two fees will be charged the higher fee. Bags over 100 pounds will not be accepted. Overview of Baggage Policy Pricing
If you or someone you are traveling with requires special assistance, equipment or other considerations, Sun Country Airlines wants to make your experience as convenient as possible. The following information covers the majority of situations, however, if your situation is not covered here please contact us for specific guidance. An assistant may accompany passengers needing special assistance beyond the security checkpoint. See a Sun Country ticket agent for a gate pass. For those passengers with special needs, Sun Country Airlines transports all types of wheelchairs including folding, collapsible or non-folding un-powered wheelchairs, electric powered wheelchairs and electric powered carts. A minimum of one hour is required for check in of any electrical equipment to ensure it meets all dangerous goods handling requirements. Please note:
To request wheelchairs and discuss other special needs requirements, please call Sun Country customer service toll-free at 1-800-359-6786 or 651-905-2737 for Minneapolis/St. Paul local calls (Mon-Sun, 5am-Midnight Central Time). Children and InfantsChildren under two years of age may be held on an adult's lap without charge. Please note: the number of infants in a party cannot be greater than the number of adults. FAA regulations require any child who is two years of age or older to occupy his or her own seat during takeoff and landing. Be sure to bring along a copy of your infant's birth certificate for age verification. If you purchase a seat for your child, you may want to consider using a FAA approved child restraint device (i.e., car seat) for safety. Some restraint devices have been banned by the FAA for use in planes and many devices manufactured before the FAA's ban may still carry a symbol indicating they are approved for aircraft use. For a list of safety recommendations visit the FAA Web site or call the agency's consumer information hotline at 1-800-FAA-SURE. Helpful hints
